Create Like John H. Johnson In 2014

John H. Johnson was the founder of Johnson Publishing Company.  His company gave the African American community great publications such as Ebony and Jet magazines.

His company allowed black people in the United States and around the world to get news and information that was relevant to them.  It was a great service to the black community.

His vision allowed other blacks to dream bigger than their environment and their circumstances.  It allowed African Americans to see successes and positive images of blacks around the country.  The mainstream magazine and newspapers were not interested in showing the successes of blacks.  I honor him because we would have never been able to see those images if he wouldn't have created his publishing empire.  

As we embark upon 2014, I wonder how many of us have allowed ourselves to dream that big.  What businesses or legacies will we create for ourselves and our families in this upcoming year?  Will you disrupt the status quo and create new paradigms?   Let's use the examples of fine business people like John H. Johnson to inspire us to create in 2014.  Are you with me?
