STAFF - June 28, 2019 - On Tuesday, July 2, 2019, Mr. Sylvester Ford will be the featured speaker at the Stonecrest Power Breakfast. The event will be held at the AEI Startup Factory from 8:30 to 10:30am. The Stonecrest Power Breakfast is an event that brings together members of the AEI Startup Factory, business and civic leaders, and movers and shakers in the Atlanta metro area.
Sylvester Ford is the owner of Alternative Finance and Business Strategies (AFBS), a commercial finance and franchise consulting company based in Jonesboro, Ga. The company arranges funding for business working capital, commercial real estate purchases and refinancing, economic development funding and franchise consulting. Prior to opening his own business in 2011, he worked in the housing finance industry for 15 years where he was able to arrange funding for single family homes. He began his career working with small and mid-sized businesses, from 1983-1993, as an Account Executive at Bellsouth. As one of the founders of the Gwinnett county NAACP, he served as both a President and Vice-President over a five-year period. He is also an alumnus of the Leadership Gwinnett program. In 2010, he graduated with his MBA from the University of Phoenix and obtained a B.Sin Political Science and Public Administration from Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA in 1983. While attending Georgia College, he was elected the first African-American student government president and also elected the first African American Student Advisory Council President to the Georgia Board of Regents. Sylvester has been a member of the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, the South Fulton Chamber of Commerce, the Atlanta Business League, the Council on Quality Growth, the Forest Park Ministerial Association Executive Board, the International Economic Development Council, and the Atlanta Airport Chamber of Commerce; as well as a member and licensee of the Franchise Broker's Association. Sylvester serves as a board member on the Clayton County Development Authority and the Jonesboro Downtown Development Authority. Sylvester is a member of Divine Faith Ministries, he lives in Jonesboro, GA and enjoys being both a father and a grandfather when he isn't assisting businesses reach their growth potential. The event will be held at Georgia State University on Sunday June 14, 2015. This event will feature snippets from the original musical theatre production, Songs for Adaeze, an Art Exhibit, and will be hosted by Georgia State University’s Cast of Carnival Medea: A Bacchanal This event also serves as a fundraiser for the Georgia State theater group as they have been invited to perform abroad at the Fringe Festival in Scotland. In attendance were business owners and professionals that represent a wide range of services. The event turned out to be a great evening and many new business connections were made. Guest speaker, Marcia L. Knox of Cetera, received a certificate of appreciation presented by BBL founder and chapter president, Stephen Wicks. Mr. Wicks said, "I am excited to see this chapter get off the ground. The group of people that assembled here today are just the type of people that we're looking for to be apart of our movement.
